Is there’s way to set a measure such as 5/8 inch on the radius of an rect instead of percentage? I would be more than happy to make sure my rect is big enough.

Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to adjust the unit of measurement when it comes to the Corner Radius editor, however, I have moved your question into the Ideas & Feedback section so that others can vote on the proposal and we can gauge its popularity.
