I’m trying to use a multiply layer, but it doesn’t show up anywhere.

You can find blend mode in Style Inspector menu in the Appearance section.
iPad: Style > Appearance > Blend Mode (tap for a drop-down menu).
Mac: Style Inspector > Appearance > Opacity (Normal) (click for a drop-down menu).
