It seems it’s only possible to input color hex code in limited places, eg I can never type the color for fill color/gradient.

It should be possible to input HEX codes from both the Inspector as well as the Color Widget as shown here:
If this does not work as intended for you, or if you would like to see the feature implemented in an alternative way, just let me know!
