Adding a stroke to a PNG image file

Good day Friends!

I just recently updated the app and I’m having difficulty trying to find my way around the new features. See, I need to add a stroke to a png image, whose outline is a little complex. This is for a sticker I’m trying to print out and I need a bit of outline for the image as a border. The stroke options is non selectable and I cannot easily toggle the setting to my needs. How do I go about this?

Strange since I can put a shadow behind it but not a stroke.

Hello Patpourri!

At the moment, there is no option to add a stroke effect to the PNG image.

You can apply a new shape on top of PNG by using a Pen tool. And set the stroke to that shape. This could take more time, and might require some skills.

But instead, you can also do this:

  • Auto trace the image with Keep Source Image ON
  • Select Auto traced shapes → Path tab → Boolean → Unite
  • Apply stroke effect, remove fill
  • Move the auto traced shape to the background by using Layers panel
